Welcome to the Junior League of Albuquerque!
Founded in 1934, we are an organization of women whose mission is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and to improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
I am proud to serve as the 75th President of the Junior League of Albuquerque. I have the privilege of working with over 400 women who make up our sustaining, active and new membership. Our members are dedicated women who balance the demands of home, family and work and still find the passion to volunteer to make Albuquerque a better community.
This year marks our 60th Anniversary as members of the Association of Junior League’s International. Our Legacy began with 35 women who saw the potential to change our community for the better. That Legacy continues today by the time, financial support and training our League puts back into the community. As our heritage began in the 1930’s as the Junior Club of Albuquerque, our early projects like Well Baby Clinics and establishing the Cerebral Palsy Day School were supported by such events as The Follies. 74 years later the Junior League of Albuquerque is still working with our community leaders to identify unmet needs and adopt programs as our Community Impact Projects. The Fall of 2008 begins our two year collaboration with Project Share we are honored to work with this organization and provide to them 300 plus hours of volunteer time and over $24,000 in direct financial support.
In addition to its members, the Junior League of Albuquerque’s Community Impact Projects are supported by a generous group of donors, corporations, community partners and friends. Through their participation, sponsorship and attendance at our special events and the purchase of our cookbooks, Simply Simpatico and Taste of Enchantment we are able to raise the funds needed to support these projects.
I hope you will browse our website and learn more about our rich history in the Albuquerque community. I hope that it inspires you to make your own difference in our community by either becoming a member of the league, supporting our charitable endeavors or becoming more involved in the many non profits in our area.
